To set up a site of your own in only 10$ US take advantage of Google Blogger’s Custom Domain program. The steps to follow are :

1. Create a Google account.
2. Login at Blogger.com with the above Google account.
3. Create a Blog.
4. Go to Settings—–>Publishing—->Click on Switch to Custom Domains and buy one for 10$ US.
5. Your settings will be autoconfigured.

To create one in Wordpress create a free blog at Wordpress.com and then use the Mapped Domain facility to map it to your domain. It will cost 15$ US. However you will not be able to use advertising or upload any themes or plugins. To map to a domain you have to change the nameservers to :

ns1.wordpress.com
ns2.wordpress.com
ns3.wordpress.com

To map to a subdomain do not change nameservers. Instead add a CNAME entry like this :

subdomain.domain.com. IN CNAME [your-blog].wordpress.com.

You will have to wait till the DNS changes are propagated.
